Employee Satisfaction Key to Member Satisfaction
We are excited to announce that Midcoast FCU was recently recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for 2018. The awards program was created in 2006 and is a project of the Society for Human Resource Management-Maine State Council (MESHRM) and Best Companies Group. This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process, consisting of a 25% weighting of an evaluation of the company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics and a 75% weighting on an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
A visit to any of our five locations, our website or social media pages and you will quickly learn that this is no ordinary financial institution. We are bold, colorful, inviting and focused on creating engaged and empowered financial consumers. While our bright orange may grab your attention, we know it is our employees that are the key to our lasting success and greater member satisfaction. We employ a four step approach to employee satisfaction and development.
Step One: Provide a solid compensation foundation. We provide our employees with competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package to promote their own financial success. Paid birthday holidays and paid volunteer time, casual dress days and discounts on loans add enhanced value.
Step Two: Keep them healthy, wealthy and wise. Ongoing employee engagement and development is vital to fulfilling our mission. Wellness challenges help employees focus on physical, emotional and financial well-being. Employee-driven contests aid the Credit Union in achieving its long-term objectives via creative and fun competition. Weekly training sessions are kept lively and personal development is supported through the Everything DiSC Program and tuition reimbursement benefits.
Step Three: Empower the Team. Our employees are passionate because they are empowered to make a difference directly in our members’ financial lives. By making informed decisions on loan requests and member product usage, our employees build trust and rapport with our members.
Step Four: Continual Feedback, Assessment, and Re-Tooling. The culture is collaborative and engaging with a focus on fair treatment and transparency at all levels. Employee surveys and direct interaction with management fuel innovation.
Celebrating our employees’ (and volunteers’) efforts is also large part of our success. Recently, the Credit Union held its annual appreciation event at the 1812 Farm in Bristol. Richard Hart (Far Left) was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year in his role as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and for his service on numerous committees. Amanda Bosits(Second to Left), Member Services Supervisor in Edgecomb, received the Rising Star Award for showing great promise as a future Midcoast leader. Lori Jessie(Third to Left), Member Services Representative II in Brunswick, was awarded the Service Excellence Award for her exemplary service to our members and her co-workers. Neeley Stanton (Second from Right) VP Human Resources/Training in Freeport, was awarded the prestigious Diane Oceretko Core Values award for embodying the Credit Unions’ values of Honesty and Integrity, Commitment to Education, and Concern for Community. Elizabeth Delano-Earl (Far Right), Deposit Operations Specialist II in Freeport, was also awarded the Service Excellence Award for her exemplary service to our members and her co-workers.
The Credit Union will continue to strive for a high level of employee satisfaction, as it translates directly to an elevated member service experience. We appreciate the Best Places to Work recognition, but the true measure of our success is your satisfaction. Be sure to congratulate our recent award winners and please share your feedback. Let us know how we are doing in our effort to meet your financial needs.
