The Maine Credit Union League is reporting that a number of Maine credit union members have received text messages informing them that their debit card has been compromised and to call a toll free number. When the member calls, they are asked to provide their card number and CVV2 code.

Recent news reports are giving our members a bad case of card insecurity. In the past year there have been reports from national retailers such as Home Depot, Supervalu (Shaw's Supermarket's parent company) and Dairy Queen of security breaches in their payment systems compromising thousands of customers’ card information.
